Still piloting along….and just one aside!
Another session with the camera and more done…its a slow process but we are getting there. There’s about 12 important pieces to camera I need to do to set the backbone of the show in place and we have about 8 of them done to date. In total that would be about 90 seconds of the show but without these there is no show. We are taking care to get the best shots and the best performances possible. Graeme is measuring every set up so the best light and crispest images are captured.
Most of the takes to date are early morning but now we have shifted to afternoon for some. Yesterday was a bit of a struggle literally because I had to struggle up a steep incline without falling over and babble away at the same time about the sky. After a few attempts and a few slides we got it done. It was important because it introduced the sky…the first part of the painting…and the part where I show how to tackle a sky with clouds.
The point about this pilot is that I want to show how to paint but in the most unboring way possible! I want those that have absolutely no interest in painting to stay with me to the end, and thats a high goal indeed, but I do believe it is possible with unexpected and exciting maneuvers, clever minds on the job and a bagful of ‘bells and whistles’ to dip into! The script must be bouncy and imaginative with challenges to keep the pace there. It seems to be working so far.
The bulky part of doing the painting is going to be a mix of extreme close ups of the brush being loaded with paint then the stroke I use to get the paint onto the canvas. I’ll show every technique I use and that includes how I manipulate the pastry brush hairs to get the effects I seem to get…and there’s plenty of them believe me! So there’s a big challenge there but I am confident we will get up that hill when we get to it.
An aside…..
I’m thinking about the floods in Australia and am staggered that the government needs to inflict a levy on the population to pay for the damage. I was under the impression that the federal government already had a levy in place for ’household spending and family emergencies’ ….called taxation. In the so called ‘lucky country’ that levy is one of the highest in the world. It says something about the calibre of the country’s fearless leaders when the cupboard is found bare for a ‘family emergency’. I found this the other day and found it interesting in light of the present plight of the government!
THE TOP 8 COUNTRIES THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT GAVE TAX DOLLARS TO IN 2010-2011 were…..
Indonesia $458,700.00 million
Papua New Guinea $457,200,00 million
Solomon Islands $225,700.00 million
Afghanistan $123,100.00 million
Vietnam $119,800.00 million
Philippines $118,100.00 million
East Timor $102,700.00 million
Cambodia $64,200.00 million
A TOTAL of…… $ 1,669,000,000.00 - given away in 52 weeks
and as a further aside…the present government will give $500,000,000.00 to Indonesia’s Islamic schools this year. Why I don’t know…..
Now the GOOD news…..
the flood victims in Queensland get …..wait for it … $1 million , yep ONE million from the government!
That was correct up to last week and I haven’t heard of any changes.
Good or bad housekeeping? Hard to live in a house with that sort of parenting.
Now back to painting…..where none of that matters…..

Found your blog.
Politics, it seems to be the same story all over. We The People are working for the government, and sometimes not even our own. I think here in the US it is hard for us to comprehend the sheer square mileage that was or is flooded. Good luck to you and yours.
